Family garden design, Kingston

The new terrace in front of the refurbished garden studio needed to be carefully integrated into the existing garden. Low, staggered retaining walls connect the old and the new part of the garden and provide further areas for lush planting and seating. The terrace is laid with sawn York stone divided by gravel beds with planting and stepping stones

The borders around the lawn and in front of the existing terrace of the house were re-shaped as part of the works and made wider to allow for additional plant layers in front of existing shrubs.

Ornamental grasses are effectively mixed with evergreen, ball shaped shrubs to provide all year interest next to the shrubs covering the boundaries. The planting design has been skilfully developed around existing and mature shrubs which all of a sudden re-gain their former glory.
