The brief for this family garden was a design for the whole family to enjoy and to nurture the love of being outdoors of the children. The garden should provide a safe playing area for the children created with natural materials to encourage physical activities and role play as well as a new garden studio for the parents to work from.
This is achieved through timber logs at various heights to climb and balance on, a boardwalk through a woodland garden, a sand pit, and a play house with a slide.
An existing Beech tree acts as a focal point of the garden and will be the setting for an exciting tree house to come.
The lawn is kept as large as possible to encourage ball games and croquet.
Further the design provides an area to grow vegetables and an evening seating area under the Beech tree.
The studio is placed half way down the garden and opens sideways onto the lawn.
It is accessed via a path along a new planting border which is formed out of random sized slate stepping stones with creeping thyme planted between the pavers to fill the gaps.
