Planting Design, Esher

In this north-facing back garden the borders just needed filling with plants. The client wanted a low maintenance planting scheme, using strong and bold architectural plants to fill in the beds amongst mature shrubs and trees.

The design consists of strong formal elements throughout the garden using Box balls, Agave and Kniphofia as the main elements in the garden. A bold hedge of Bamboo is used for screening purposes and is underplanted with low growing dark red leaved grass mulched with white gravel. Further swathes of Hakonechloa grass is used to under plant Acers. The planting is mainly laid out in blocks for bold effect.
