This small courtyard garden in Twickenham needed a new, uplifting planting scheme after the installation of a new fence with trellis.
The garden is sheltered and secluded with a large Maple tree on the neighbouring property casting shade during certain times of the day.
The existing garden had a gravel area in the centre with surrounding planting beds. The borders were re-shaped, metal edging installed between gravel and planting borders and a small boulder water feature was added as a focal point.
The planting scheme consists of a mix of climbers (Roses, Clematis), deciduous and evergreen shrubs (Ceonothus, Sambucus and Pittosporum) to cover the new fence, and a mix of wildlife friendly plants (Salvia, Eryngium, Gaura, Nepeta, Alchemilla) mixed with a few ornamental grasses. A selection of existing plants were included into the new planting design, such as Fuchsias and Hydrangeas.
