A small, secluded back garden belonging to an Edwardian semi-detached house in Thames Ditton, was in need of rejuvenation around an existing pond.
The garden was designed and built 20 years ago and is characterised by a deck, laid at an angle with the house and from here leading down 3 steps onto the garden level. The garden has a lovely mature feel with a mature Acer adding atmosphere and providing shade for the large pond.
The owners are keen gardeners but needed help in choosing the right plant palette around the pond to bring it all back to life again. In addition, the grass patch with stepping stones wasn’t sufficient to provide good access to the back of the garden. We suggested to add a paved brick path, with the small brick pavers laid on the same angle as the deck. The edge of the path is deliberately chosen to be irregular and meant to mingle with edging plants and riverbed pebbles.
During the works all woodwork of the existing deck and furniture was refurbished, timber steps renewed and the fences on both sides replaced.
